Adrian Marie Blount is an event organizer, curator, founder, choreographer, theatre producer, theater director, mentor, designer, music producer, writer, film editor.... you name it, they do it!
In 2008 they began their theatre studies at Mesa College where they learned 'the formula' of acting, studied dance, sound design, costume design and light design.
After receiving their Associates of Arts degree they furthered their education with a B.A. in Theater Arts at San Francisco State University.
Since graduation, Adrian has performed in New York, traveled across the country with a touring theatre troupe, then moved to Rhode Island to perform with various Brown University programs including the Center for Slavery and Justice, Brown/ Trinity and Trinity Repertory theatre.
After moving to Berlin in 2016 their focus in performance shifted into directing, facilitation and organization.
In 2020 Adrian directed their first professional multidisciplinary theater production at Sophiensaele titled Endangered Species with House of Living Colors, a Queer, Trans, Indigenous, Black and Brown theatre collective they founded in 2018.
In 2022, Adrian directed Qweendom, a theater production dealing with difficult but profoundly important topics of blackness, identity (queerness, migration backgrounds, Germanness) , and child abuse.
Additionally, Adrian has facilitated countless workshops from anti racism, to drag history, to collective healing, to film editing, and to makeup namely for Gladt e.V., Whole Festival, Stuttgart Opera, München Kammerspiele, Gefärliches Arbeit, Ballhaus Naunynstrasse, Dice Festival and Conference and beyond!!
Performance wise Adrian has been an international trailblazer, performing and devising theatre in Ghana, London, Chicago, Rotterdam, Lausanne, Paris and now Melbourne, Australia.
Their work, Power Tower Pishiboro was funded by Darstellende Künste / Tanz - Arbeits- und Recherchestipendium in 2022. With this Stipendium, they conducted interviews and site specific filmed projects in Leeds, Accra, Chicago, Berlin and San Diego dealing with the preservation of traditions of African Diasporic hair care practices. Power Tower Pishiboro is an ongoing ever evolving project that manifests in various forms be it film, performance, music, and sculpture.
The sculptural form of Power Tower Pishiboro, African Trees of Remembrance and Tradition, was featured at Germanisches NationalMuseum in 2023.
Adrian's work currently explores the interrelationship of blackness to fungi referencing mycelial metaphors as a means of storytelling. Their performance, Mycelial Tale , premiered at CK Ballhaus Berlin as apart of the Underworld series curated by Tiresias, with evolutionary iterations performed at Wien Woche 2024, Berghain, and xart splitta e.V.

Lastly, their curatorial work extends to performance, community gatherings and children's events at various spaces in Berlin and beyond. Their writing has been featured in Black Fly Zine and Palais De Tokyo.
